Commenting: on Poems: Echoes of war...centuries of blight

This poem deeply moved me, so perfectly portraying the wounds war leaves, the victims it claims, not just the fallen, but those left behind. War, from the beginning of time until now has not changed it still does the damage. This is a wonderful tribute to all soldiers present and past (this is all that keeps their deaths from having been in vain). Excellent flow and rhyme and message.
Totally stumped by it all!
My thoughts:
IMAGES
Excellent use of words and images,
the images so many choose to ignore.
Flags and uniforms and smiling faces
they used to sell it to us, but
these are not the images of war.
You've nailed it on the head,
they come back damaged, even those
who can still walk and smile,
will never be the boys and girls
who marched away; we should all
walk in their shoes awhile.
Your poem was harsh, and cruel,
and bitter, the way
the truth so often is.
The body count is more
than those who died,
it's family, friends, our nation.
There is no glory in this thing
that they call war.
This one really got a gut reaction from me,it made me want to retch.
It should make everyone who reads it uncomfortable, maybe then we will see change.

It is a topic that has made grown men retch, strong muscular, fearless men tremble and fall to their knees and cough out thier insides at the sight of such carnage.
It is why we must look very carefully at the choices to come in this next election, whether to elect a man who will willingly engage in more war, or make a choice for some period of temporal peace. Thanks for your comments, your caring and your truely felt appalment at the aftermath of men's madness called war.~~~Artis
