Lie quietly down and close your eyes
I'll sing you songs of butterflies
And pleasantries, like fairy's wings
And all of your favorite, beautiful things.
I'll gently stroke your lovely hair
And tell you of the world so fair
Of happy things, and fireflies
Until you finally close your eyes.
Then as you sleep, I'll say a prayer
That God will keep you in his care
And thank him for a brand new start
To love a child with all my heart!

I felt safe and calm, what a beautiful write

That I was i some kinda dreamland.
That kinda thing never happened to me.
I can imagine it as a voiceover in some American blockbuster.
It's lovely stuff!
Stick a melody to it and it could easily be a lullaby.

It's so pure and innocent, I love this kind of poems it calms the soul down and brings hope to the heart. Thanks for sharing, my fav lines are probably these:

They bring so many kind, pure feelings to the reader. It just shows how children are innocent.

This is a lovely poem, I enjoyed it so much I even felt more relaxed and calm after reading it. It brought a smile to my face and it would be a lovely poem to read to a child. I too adore fireflies so I can really appreciate the imagery. Great structure, tight rhyme scheme and it flows like a river. Well done to you!

Ah, firefly, you have touched my heart strings with your words here...Truly a lullaby, and every word would be what I would want to say, but could not find the words that you have..The rhyme, the choice of words, imagery, and loving sentiment for a child ..Magnificent, and a bookmark!
