One last glance,
a look into the past.
Memories never forgotten,
never remembering why I said the things I said.
The words that have come out of my mouth,
the kisses I have shared here.
My home, I can't believing I'm leaving.
Driving away, looking back at the pier,
it traps the water in, just as this town once trapped me.
A heart and two sets of lungs,
my air, my home, my love.
With a broken heart, I turn back around.
Memories circling in my head,
my brain on overload, as I look at this one moment here.
This one last sunset.

This is my first try at a villanelle. I hope you like it. I am going to college Saturday, so it sort of just came to me.

Oh, wow. This is fantastic. I love the deepness here, the imagery, everything. I can already tell that this contest is going to be wicked hard to judge. Just one note - pier in the context you have is spelled 'pier.'

Villanelle is a rhyme in a pattern, I put some links and some examples on the contest page, you might wish to look at it...I will come back and read again before judging...PK
