Framed in a Dream

Missing image
four o'clock
four o'clock

stripped from the garments of daylight's rat-race
shedding the cotton for silks and embrace
loved by the timeless of hourless pace
turning all cables to ribbons of lace

lifted from pathways so steady and gray
floating now soulful arisen from clay
footless and faceless in dissected themes
reluctant dreamer let go of her dreams

four o'clock
four o'clock

lonely but singing soft songs never heard
chuckling in darkness at nightmares absurd
captured and wingless but free as a bird
watching pure moonlight in flight undisturbed

fantasies slipped forth from shadows' dark broach
merged into dawn with its gradual approach
yearning to step from the drapes of night's seams
turning the tables to reach into beams

four o'clock
four o'clock

This piece could have been the extra verses to Emilie Autumn's song, they're written so well. Good luck in the contest!

    draped in mystique

There is a wonderfull mysterious fragrance to this piece. The perfect balancing act of time and timelessnes. I like the way you add dimension, opposing and forcing me as the reader to interpret, for example: "captured and wingless but free as a bird" also letting go of the dreams and embracing the fantasies.
I should not dissect a poem like this, it's so powerfull, so composed, so lovely to the eye and the soul...
