Adão e Eva

Missing image

Adão e Eva

It spoke to me, that piece of art;
a stroll through the gall'ry that day.
Image of man and counterpart,
a painting that swept me away.

Woman from man and man from dust;
blessed by God to love and obey,
companionship that we can trust;
a painting that swept me away.

To bask in the essence of one,
as the angels dance in ballet,
human existence has begun;
a painting that swept me away.

It spoke to me, that piece of art,
a painting that swept me away.

Author notes

Kyrielle Sonnet:

A Kyrielle Sonnet consists of 14 lines (three rhyming quatrain stanzas and a non-rhyming couplet). Just like the traditional Kyrielle poem, the Kyrielle Sonnet also has a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza). Each line within the Kyrielle Sonnet consists of only eight syllables. French poetry forms have a tendency to link back to the beginning of the poem, so common practice is to use the first and last line of the first quatrain as the ending couplet. This would also re-enforce the refrain within the poem. Therefore, a good rhyming scheme for a Kyrielle Sonnet would be:
AabB, ccbB, ddbB, AB -or- AbaB, cbcB, dbdB, AB

    The Kyrielle Sonnet is such a gracefull style and compliments your thoughts in writing as well as the picture.

    I think this piece is done with a different outlook being you looking at the painting, which is exactly what you are doing! Clever and I loved the meter and rhyme for it flows beautifully!

    Now, I would like to thank you VERY MUCH for taking part in my contest and I also hope you had some fun with this!

    The sonnet and the painting are both works of art. I know how much harder it is to write 8 syllable sonnets. You have managed to capture the feeling of the painting extremely well and made the language completely conversational and normal. Wow, that is not easy to do. A powerful work that should do well in the contest. Hers's three bunnies for you.

    Well, Kryielle sonnets certainly suit you well! You used this one to tell a story perfectly. Adam and Eve would be quite proud. The picture was truly one that would sweep someone away.

    You excel at Kyrielle sonnets (well all sonnets) at writing paintings and you are inordinately fond of the creation story.
    All in all a marriage made in heaven, great stuff
