A walk on the cobbles with the one I love.

Missing image
By this morning light, let us walk the cobbles.
Something in the hollow sound beneath my boots,
the whisper under those soft moccasins, you wear.
always brings the bloom of new life to my heart.
The halo, aura that is sunlight on your silken hair,
the pleasing sound of your conversation spilling into
the chilled morning air,
each a staple for my spirit.

When we come to our favorite coffee shop, in the open air,
will we order the same croissants and mocha java?
We know we will and fill up our souls as on a hundred days past,
with a new creation of love.  We'll pass the same newspaper back
and forth between us, eat from each others plates, laugh and squabble
over the last pat of butter, as we always do.  But, it will never get old.

We are always, forever, in love, each day re-birthing;
with each  look into your violet blue eyes, that curve of your smile
etching itself on my heart, it comes like raindrops to nourish my passions.
I reach out to touch your hand, whether ensconced in a glove, or partially obscured by the knit of your thick lambs wool on a winter morning walk,
or stunningly free, in the summer frock you like to wear along the boulevard,
in summer and each touch excites me more than the last.
Sometimes to look up unexpectedly, to see you looking at me, and a tremor runs through my every fibre when I see the melting glance. I hear you whisper in my ear, the way only you could, the simple phrase,
"I love you" and the tremor becomes an electric bolt that fairly stuns my heart.
And I wonder, why?
I am a ragged thing, of no consequence before such beauty as yours.
a poor excuse for someone to love, with this battered guitar,
these mismatched cast off clothes,
this ruddy face, no prize, nor the body.
Yet, though surely I have asked it enough to frustrate you many times over at the enquiry, your response is always,
"Because you're you"

I'll walk through life with you, for your unconditional love
And, I will always love you, for no other reason than that you exist and I have been granted the blessing and the gift of having found you.

I really loved the last line. The whole poem was amazing though. Congratulations on bronze. Just one thing, you might want to correctly spell "fiber." I believe it's the 14th line from the bottom.

I really want to see the movie that picture is from!!!

This is beautifully romantic! It shows the simplicity of how love should be, the tender moments, that mean so much!

    Gifted, gifted !

Hello, my friend. This is such a beautiful sentiment to read first in the morning. Anticipation and vibrance in being comes to live in the joy and acceptance shared with such a one. The tender nuances written here made me sigh...that smile of the heart that just carries one all day...the stuff of memories worth keeping.

    Excellent Write

This is beautifully romantic, a man hopelessly in love and looking forward to an endless gift of her heart...this prose is a true expression of jazz in motion........novy
