the smell of crayons
and thick paper
fill my nostrils
her fat little fingers
will curl around
as she traces leaf
after leaf
autumn is upon us
we steal longer walks
in early evening
and admire the
colors
that are being tread over
and carjacked
by the wind
under a swift tire
her jacket is zipped up
but i let her go sock-less
cos i just cant resist
seeing her tiny toes
taking in the air
before everything freezes over
before hot chocolate melts you down
i want to be the one to warm
your heart
long before you know it needs to be
that is why i share my seasons
with the one i want to grow with
and thick paper
fill my nostrils
her fat little fingers
will curl around
as she traces leaf
after leaf
autumn is upon us
we steal longer walks
in early evening
and admire the
colors
that are being tread over
and carjacked
by the wind
under a swift tire
her jacket is zipped up
but i let her go sock-less
cos i just cant resist
seeing her tiny toes
taking in the air
before everything freezes over
before hot chocolate melts you down
i want to be the one to warm
your heart
long before you know it needs to be
that is why i share my seasons
with the one i want to grow with
Author notes
autumn : so i thought first of my seasons spent when my daughter was first born , the way we rang it all in , with drawings and walks , and just being around her and spending that time one on one , it was a great feeling of bonding that i knew was as important as feeding her .... so i fed her mind , her body and her soul ...

thank you for sharing these bittersweet memories [for lack of a better term] and such walks indeed are nourishment for mind, body and soul of adult and child. We can feed off each other , for each has something to sahre and teach. Thanks again,
reenie

Oh I love this! Man, makes me think of my own little darlin' boy ... now he's 6 ft. tall but we still take walks together

Great imagery here, nice trip down memory lane.
