Alone with the Book of Signs & Shadows

sometimes,
you test the strength of the chain
claim the fall was due to an avalanche
or an accident

or
be both ways at once
petulant
with a purple tongue
tainted with a grape sucker
days spent sprawled on the clay table
scratching lovers
whose lips love flesh

but the chain barely budges
the collar chafes,

as delicate as moonbeams through clouds
                              as when it started,
now calloused and scabbed
most of the vision scraped.

A leaver of words unpronounced
another stolen child
that only the forest knows,
that which was unannounced
kneaded into the dough
a name,
a rendezvous

a sound that will not shake you loose
from all by which you are bound.

    Very deep write here

IT amazes me how words often builds a structure of an unseen vision one we feel we know we have been there but cant explain . Its those thoughts hidden so deeply within our minds the wall we build for self preservasion for sanity

I think this is My New Favorite Lute Poem.

I cannot as is my recent history with your latest poems say exactly what it makes me feel but I feel like it was written for me. And that is probably the best thing about a good poem -- it feels personal and yet, I know that is not possible. And yet there is something about this that punches me in the gut -- it says things about me that no one should know. About things I feel but never say.

    It is not happy
    It is not sad

I find this sublime. And that is about all one could really ask for in a piece of art eh?

I have no nits on this poem. I don't think it belongs in Missile Street though that is if you care what I think.

It seems related to Amelia Crucified. It is grand.

Reminds me of civilisation, how we are all in chains in some form or another, how some see the hypocrisy of it all and some who are the hypocrites. Have encountered a few on here in my time too. Nice and deep Mr. Lute like I always expect from you, words to ponder. C

sounds like Charmed and the book of spells... sorry but my daughter got me hooked on it years ago.. and now we're collecting all the DVD's ... ouch

now i ponder on the words for real.. the scabbed and scarred and the collar chafes all bring bloody marvelous aliteration mr guitarman...

makes the tongue roll on sound and vision..
    doughy and squishy
