Empty words flew from your betraying lips,
each && every one, another bullet, to pierce my heart…
Yet somehow, I turned out okay;
A little frayed, but strong
You always thought you knew me so well
But boy, you were w.r.o.n.g.
You’re nothing but a shadow beneath my heart
&& a drawer closed in my mind.
I can feel you slipping out of my life
like you did on our last night
except I am completely free,
[Free to be alive] &&
Now I’m here to c e l e b r a t e.

Hey lizwicker,
I just wanted to say that I normally don't write dirty-pretty poems like this, but I wrote it for a friend's contest and it was my first shot at it, lol, but if it's not what you're looking for, please let me know and I can enter something else!

This this is one of my favorites of your poems. I also love the picture. Overcoming an abusive [boyfriend?] yea, I think that's right. Anyway, this displays the absolute joy of defeating an abusive situation and coming out in one piece. Great job as always.
