Where is He?

You say that you are always in darkness
Always falling on your knees
Little blackbird boy
You ask where God is when you need him--
It's a rhetorical question.

I answer anyway.

God's right here, I've told you
Right behind you, waiting
For you to turn around.

You cry that you have, that you have
Spinning until you collapsed
But no one was there
No one took your hand
No one helped you up,
And you say how can I believe in God
You say how I'm trapped now.

I answer anyway.

I say, you've turned around
And you've reached out
But you haven't reached far enough.
If you'd open your eyes
You'd see where he was
And be able to walk right to him.

Opening my eyes won't do anything
When everything is black.
That is your answer
And you leave
To stumble on your own
Expecting me to let you be.

I tell you anyway.

Just believe, keep faith
And the Lord will send a zephyr
To breathe on
Your sunken eyes--
Breathe life back into them
And lift up the lids
And teach you to see.

You say nothing
But I think you heard.

HERCULES IS A STUD MUFFIN
Quotes I would like to write about, in order from first to third choice:
17: This is a story of a girl who cried a river and drowned the whole world.
20: Seagulls fly, when mermaids cry
15: Take these sunken eyes and learn to see.
Assigned quote: No. 15
I know it's kinda long, and weird... but I like it.

For this most recent contest, I'm doing option 19, I think, or whatever, it's the spiritual poetry.

This is a strong proclimation of your faith and its a joy to see you boldly saying what so many people are too shy to say. Some people refuse to see the light because they've been so long in darkness. His sunken eyes will see if he wants to open them, but like you said, he has to reach.
