It’s not my fault your honor please
I wasn’t really serious just trying to tease
We didn’t mean to break his arm
I didn’t steal that car alarm
I was just along for the ride
It wasn’t me that said “cops run hide”
We’re not a gang just some friends
Mom I’m sorry I got locked up again
These things always happens to me he whined
Just in the wrong place, at the wrong time
It’s not fair always a victim of life
I do my best can’t seem to get anything right
Accountability is not for those who struggle
It’s for those who succeed
Your destiny can be found in your own hands
Take responsibility for your actions please

The first three stanzas reminded me of beat poetry, which amused me a little. The final stanza was affirming and completely different to the earlier ones but well placed. Thank you for entering the contest!
