The Tale of the Pariah

A chill is in the air tonight
and I shiver, turning in my sleep,
troubled in a dream,
Only to realize
that I'm stuck back here again.
Yet with lethargic arms
I lift myself out of this heap,
and move on.

And on and on.

Out the window, through the door, and into the sea
where I know I belong.
The vastness of the ocean taking me,
drifting further and further until I'm just a speck to be viewed from the sand
    where they stand.
Oh, have you forgotten me?
No matter though because I've found my own way this time.

Sure, I've seen the best fall down an the brightest stars go dim,
But tell me now, what fun is life if you never learn to swim?

I've caught a glimpse of the beacon of light
and I'm chasing after it all my life,
And I don't care who follows me,
This time it's not bringing me down.
