Broken Dreams

                standing, expressionless

                before the damp, cracked mirror

                rivulets of condensation

run down the face of the glass

                separating the reflection

                into bits and pieces

                a very apt description

                for the way I feel

                 ~           ~           ~           ~

damaged, but still in one piece

Thanks for participating in the contest. I'm really enjoying everyone's efforts on this. It lets me and anyone else who reads it, get a feel for who you are or maybe just where you are in your life right now. And that's really true of this poem. It seems like you're struggling to make sense of life and the way you see it. It sounds very hard. I hope you feel better after having written it. And thanks so much for entering!

I think I have been in this place a time or two myself. The way you have captured not only the image but the emotions as well is just phenomenal. I can feel the pain and sadness of waking up to these emotions. Wonderfully penned! Best of luck to you in your contest!

Damaged, but still in one piece... how often I have felt the same way and even wondered how the world could continue as it does when I am feeling so low down and cast aside. This is quite the emotionally charged piece. I wish you the very best of luck in the contest.

What an amazing expression and display of talent I see here. I like the way you personify the broken glass and the reflection within. A work of art indeed! Good luck in the contest.
