By a Thread

Missing image

By a thread, our hearts beat together,

Lines running through each center,

Drawing our love closer;

Until that love knot

Unraveled one sad day.

Alone, I could not make it,

In angst, I was disconnected, by a thread.

Then, I met the wonder of another you,

But again you left me dangling, by a thread.

Your game did not follow the rules,

You always win that way; instead,

I put a string out there for you to toy with,

And I yanked it, over your head.

In the air you jumped, leaping for your toy,

And then I felt complete, by a thread.

Until I was told about a superstring,

I would have to move into another dimension,

Where I did not understand the meaning.

In my confusion, I tried to tie a rope

Around my neck, but, as I tossed it,

I suddenly found that I was soaring!

And I thought I had new hope...

But what was left of me

When I fell back down toward earth,

Was hanging onto a tangled cord of twine;

The theory of my whole life was shredded.

In my mind, I begged for a lifeline,

Thinking I may get it right this time...

Yet, under the sky without a sun,

Just by a strand, I hung.

And all my thoughts within me,

Were, "As Thy will be done."

As I sorted the fragments in my head,

I began to feel reconnected;

By a thread.

    Can I just say hold everything...!
    This is incredible! there are so many turns of events,
    I see truth and honesty, and you know what else? You're not blaming anyone, just stating the obvious.
    Amen my friend. You say this so beautifully, raw....

    Ah, a very touching piece, brought a tear to my eyes, silk lines wrapped around your face, so smooth and soft all wrapped in lace.

      Thank you for the kudos...

      I'm happy you like the poem, and I'm sure most of us can relate to the feeling of being frazzled and coming undone from time to time. This was a fun write, and your thoughtfully creative comments just made my day. Thanks again!!! Cyn

    Astounding!

    What an astounding write!...taking the simple notion of a thread and making an analogy of it as representing your emotional self in its interaction with those you felt connected to by love..only to experience the thread breaking...a most impressive write...regards Dan xx
