Meaningless Shades of Grey

Missing image
Drawing inspiration from
love's broken heart,
nothing amazing emerges ~
only mere scribbles.

Depression my only muse,
colorless future...
Meaningless shades of grey
donning my canvas.

No psychiatrist, nor pill
will lift this haze.
Solace no longer present
within these walls.

Desiring brilliant hues
without restraint,
desperate to dream again
in living color...
Today's paint has dried...
 Tomorrow's a new canvas.

Being depressed for several years I can empathize with every word in this poem. Very emotional and well structured poem that clearly outlines a very common human condition.

I think you really captured the picture here, the mood of it and his sense of having lost colour in his life. I love that ending too.. holds hope that a new canvas could possibly be painted with colour!

You really put yourself 'there', right in his shoes... in the paintings meaningless scribbles... depression makes life colorless -

But the ending, as I tend to do as well, is leave a hint of hope
    "Today's paint has dried...

The mind games and that great devil called depression. When it pays us a visit , indeed the world seems dul and gray. But then the sun can shine again. One very heavy write and a perfect fit for the picture.
