Words

Words have a sub-conscious power
the mind has the only known key,
letters may fall like a shower
to land on a page that you see.

Words can describe any feeling
of love, or of envy and hate,
potentially leave your thoughts reeling
desires and lust they can sate.

Words in a poem that’s written
to a lover, will need no excuse,
the heart will at once become smitten
as a poet puts words to good use.

Words tell an everyday story
a fantasy, fable, or myth,
a battle of death, blood or glory
recorded by any wordsmith.

Words are the tools of creation
they’re used without even a care,
man in his life’s animation
would struggle, if words were not there.

Oh the power of words. Often abused and missused. But in the end the poet prevails and forms a beautiful little prose that makes the reader truly understand the power of words.
