devil on the doorstep

He waited on the porch like a gentle torpedo
wringing moonlit fingers,
the flint to my empty fireplace
as I knelt into a corner
and etched myself into the wallpaper,
hoping to bleed through
and just once..
invite him in.

An eerie kind of darkness to this one but the imagery is vivid. I hope I never find this door

I see from Levon's comment that he thought your poem and his to be "brothers of sorts". I too was thinking that when I started reading this one! I liked this... there is something alluring about it, a strange darkness that needs a spark.... A wonderful take on the contest theme and a very authentic voice here. Thank you for this entry.
