As the snow meets grass,
as pavement meets ice,
as freezing meets air,
the heat at sacrifice.
Each snowflake owns a flaw,
impossible for me to see.
Unless i could keep one,
and examine its mystery.
I wish i could ask it to stay,
but no matter what i seem to say,
all their loveliness melts away,
unto the frigid but finite day.
And though their existence was most restricted
Their beauty was unique in patterns they depicted
so i embraced each flawed perfection as they fell
and asked the sky a story only clouds can tell
From where does a snowflake appear?
From where do they fall above what's here?
From where do they acquire their dearth of fear?
When will they seize direction in which they steer?
Soon the sun will bring forth its light.
Soon the snow will be lost from sight.
Soon the ice will thaw from the floor,
and these flawed perfections will be no more.
