Panic's buffet is prepared everyday,
newspaper columns offering their bunches of sour grapes,
television commentaries serving charcoal media appetizers.
Hard to walk a single step in the light
without hearing the words in the head,
all being a bad dream from, which you can't wake up,
wondering if we'll die from pollution
before running out of gas?
Will we go broke from taxation
or from being robbed blind by crooks,
be given a heart attack from the crap in our food,
unless some maniac with a gun
decides one is good for target practice?
Tomorrow is the fog that never clears,
doomsayers have always predicted our demise,
mankind has stumbled through the ages,
each one having its own insanity of self destruction.
There is nor voice of sight that warns,
which often gets heard in time
too prevent a catastrophe.
But history does show,
while we are failures at foresight,
we are always victors in hindsight,
better at fixing problems than preventing them.
So the future will be just as our dementia in denial
often proves is our nature,
when forced by emergency we get off our behinds,
until then pass the remote and snacks.

Nice one here... I think you've just give about 5.9 billion people some hope concerning their aimless lives...! Had to read it if I enter this contest- don't want to cover the same ground... maybe I'll continue it... yes... starting at the couch with the remote and snacks... that would be a challenge... (maybe impossible, but it's worth a go...)
