A rose of a heart beat red
A stem that is green with leaves
With thorns not long nor short
But not sharp enough to cut
The bloom so wide and fair
Eye catching from any point
Anywhere
But such a fine beauty
Cannot be mine
My tattered hands ruin its gleam
No, this rose was not for me
But who?
Searching now for the bearer of the rose
All I see is darkness blanketing my sight
Not a familiar face
Not a familiar voice
Not a familiar sonud
Just me in the darkness
Alone with only my shadow
My clumsy grip released the bloom
As it faded to the shadows
My heart felt torn between worlds
And I sat there alone
Pondering with words
Trying to remember
The rose
Author notes
I do know a few people on allpoetry, but I can never do simple choices of who I'd hand a rose to. I'm sorry if my work sucks.
