recognizing the uninvented,
nightshade births of open minds
streaming thoughts from old coal stoves,
souls....
there in the compressed......
the dark,
are diamonds.
Author notes
My thoughts after reading Pastiche, "Denied", that is, were I to presume I knew what he was saying....

(Well said by pastiche; I think his controversial poem spoke of this)
Great works are sometimes
Cloned, taken as fashionable
Genre, to be worn like cloaks,
Regalia hung off broad shoulders,
laurels brightly adorned
With wit and spit. These Chameleons,
Standing abreast the elite, nothing
Truly their own….
the uninvented are simply who they are.
Please tell me what you think

I like the Regalia hung off broad shoulders it gives it a sense of hierarchy

I like how you made the coal-diamond analogy. "nightshade births of open minds" I can see what you are showing me here. Thank you for sharing the Pastiche poem.

Wow, written with such depth and certainty! This comes of as dark, but I think only the emotion is a bit slanted, tainted.. that's all - at the end you wrote,
"the dark,
are diamonds."
Nice touch
And, that picture! Is wicked! Nice

hope you find yours... -D

I appreciate the final allusion to "diamonds." When I was growing up I was often referred to as "a diamond in the rough." The rough part was that I did not conform to what was expected of me. I had different ideas and liked different things.
I think this poem is very well worded. Nice work. ~ Joyce
