Every single day
the girl solemly makes her way up
the barren hill
to her favorite tree;
her tree of time
it knows no boundaries and makes no judgements
she gives it one last embrace
around its rotting bark
before it's leaves are ripped off from on top of it
it has indeed seen better days
when it was freshly planted and
cared for
now it's merely left to be destroyed mercilessly by who gave it life..
mankind.
perhaps there are things of more importance to mankind...than a single tree.
but the girl will always keep returning to the tree,
even when it's dead and gone.
for it's where she belongs.
even now as she clings to her last breaths, she holds onto the life it gave her.
