Riding the Dragon

One sweet puff, I'm dipped in gold
Glowing clouds uplift me and hold
Visions laden with starry windmills
Trailing gossamer mist through gilted hills
Colors swirl at every breath, every beat.

Who would leave this sublime place
Return to time, return to face
The cacophony of hurt, sordid pain,
Ridiculous reality, that passes as sane.
Begone cold world, I'll float on smokes heat.

For this choice I'll be prosecuted and jailed,
While lawmakers who punish addicts are hailed,
To spare me harm they'll hack off my head
As the public conscience and coffers are bled
to finance slaughter on innocent new meat.

Author notes

We spend a lot of money to stomp out addictions rather than improving things that could make life better, eg. education, health care, ect. and maybe remove some of the causes. Addictions are all just compulsions. Some more socialy accectable than others, like vomiting drunks on the sidewalks as opposed to pot high "addicts" munching cookes and watching DVD's. When will this maddness end?
