Tossed

You threw me a lifeline
then yanked it back
and I drowned
beneath your tide
of indifference.

I felt like a gull
feathers plucked,
left bald
upon superficial sands.

And water now bleeds,
the end,
like the crucifixion,
but the hands I had to clasp
were a fickle mask
of an egocentric generation.

What a fool,
to be caught behind
fans of trivial banter,
meaningless rhetoric
from a flimsy kite
of piddling trifles.

Done with flare and great metaphor in this, I enjoyed the entire piece and I especially loved the end lines. May have to use 'piddling trifles' lol C

This is a very well cafted poem, with all sorts of perfect metaphoric twists

    And water now bleeds,
    the end,
    like the crucifixion,
but the hands I had to clasp
    were a fickle mask
    of an egocentric generation.

Those are my favorite lines. Though there aren't any which aren't favorites.
