Maternal Warfare

how could you just stop loving
your cutting conditional love
oh, I am used to it by now
even make excuses on your behalf

an adult can accept your consequences
my blood flows luke warm in response
but to belittle even your children
shreds the muffle off this mother's mouth

sons and daughters make mistakes
on their naive journey just as we
rights of passages is to experiment
we can only pray they use their wits

trust is hard at this green age
not adult, yet not a child
need them close to chaperone
father’s reign must relax

negativity downgrades self esteem
lowering self expectations
walking the path of destruction
lying to you to be accepted

perfection lives, but not on earth
within your mind, but not your child
dreams are fine when they are yours
break their spirit they lose their vision

so when you rule use gentle firm words
dictatorship shows no love at all
molds the heart to granite stone
where love is lost and cold wars start

as you use tyranny to head the house
plucks my devotion away from you
female warrior fights for her young
no bloody tears shall fall but yours

Yes, this is powerful, indeed! My favorite stanza was: perfection lives, but not on earth / within your mind, but not your child /dreams are fine when they are yours
/ break their spirit they lose their vision. This is not only well written, but there's wisdom here as well.

This reminds me of Plato's teachings. Truth, Beauty and all our ideal exist not on this world but on the plane of the forms. When we see truth and beauty in our lives, it is but an imperfect reflection of that perfect form. Let us not expect the perfect from our children, for that perfection does not exist in this world.

Powerful words and strength of a mother. Though children notice more then those of adults. Wonderfully written. Keep up the good work and good luck in the contest.
