With each cascade of words
that fills an empty vessel,
quenches not the thirst of need.
Like salted mere it merely
creates a want for more,
for arid hearts cannot be filled
with pseudo truth,
nor melodies captured
from melee of static.
Each song lives only on
the cardio waves of thought,
pulsing to the sing of open hope
laid bare upon barriers we call faith,
for it is more than a word,
so much more than feeling,
it is our existence.
Author notes
“All these things have you said of beauty.
Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of needs unsatisfied,
And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy.
It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth,
But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted.
It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear,
But rather an image you see though you close your eyes and a song you hear though you shut your ears.
It is not the sap within the furrowed bark, nor a wing attached to a claw,
But rather a garden for ever in bloom and a flock of angels for ever in flight.
People of Orphalese, beauty is life when life unveils her holy face.
But you are life and you are the veil.
Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.
But you are eternity and your are the mirror.”
Kahlil Gibran

So much truth within these lines painted in the shadow of reality...
I love this ..
The title drew me in and each line captivated me until the end...
So well celebrating the quote..
Amazing is the word once again I choose

Interesting and unique conceptual piece, not to sure about the intended meaning or impact of this line "Like salted mere it merely". However, some of the phrasing was divine, "for arid hearts cannot be filled
with pseudo truth" and "laid bare upon barriers we call faith" being the standouts for me. Good interpretation of the prompt, best wishes to you my friend.
