Keeping in Touch.
While everybody’s having haiku fun
since the king’s great happy haiku hike’s begun,
in contest #35 (which I think is still alive),
I am pretty sure I’ve only entered one.
If asked for every friend to give a pound
I think I’d really have to search around.
Of course there’s Joan and Hugh and his dear wife Edna too
and Hinemoa has several friends she’s found.
But because I travel overseas a lot,
of close friends only very few I’ve got
and those I have today mostly live so far away
that we seldom get a chance to stir the pot.
I’ve heard that over in the U.S.A.,
they have what’s called a “National Friendship Day”
when everybody sends messages to all their friends
whether they are living near or far away.
Although we may not have “N.F.Day” here
I think that it’s a jolly good idea.
I know Hugh, to all his friends, every week a greeting sends
so that each, of his affection, is aware.
It’s important with your colleagues, friends and such,
if you value their acquaintance very much,
that you show some dedication and maintain communication
by remembering to write and keep in touch.

Dear Heath,
CONGRATULATIONS on receiving Honorable Mention in my contest!

Absolutely
There is no shorter route to friendship loss than failure to communicate. Friends spend time together, keep up with each others' concerns and make comforting noises from time to time. We both know that is true. This is a boffo poem, Heath, with a valuable message.
Best of luck in the voting!

My dear Heath,
It is very important to keep in contact with friends.
A great poem my dear Husband, I'm pleased you've entered a second one in Maureen's contest for huguenauties.
I love it the way your hair sticks up no matter how much you try to brush it down, it turns me on.
Your loving wife.
Hine.

What a nice poem, Heath... very pertinent in regards to our friendships in allpoetry and within our group.
Good luck in the contest
Dee

Dear Heath, you did the right thing to remind everyone that huguenauties contest is still open. We've all been caught up writing haiku's.
Your poem is great and I love the picture of you.
Love Jen

Dear Heath,
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and for your first-class entry in my contest!
Contest #35 is still very much alive. I've been very happy with the response and don't mind when a member enters once.
On the other hand, I enjoy and appreciate each and every poem!

We have a "National Friendship Day?" Huh who'd a thunk it.
Strange coming from a country where everyone hates each other.
Hey, I sent that "before the operation" portrait of me to Angelica in private! She swore she'd show it to no one!
Man, I was a looker!
You are right Mr. Giffen (Giffin?--I forget.) it is good to have friends.

Sorry Yem, I know I promised not to send it but I had my fingers crossed when I did so that doesn't count.
I think you look a bobby dazzler! WOO HOO!

Dear Heathcote,
Thankyou Heath for your second entry in contest #35. It was never my intention, in launching the King's Haiku Hike, to divert Huguenauties from Maureen's current contest about friends and friendship and I hope that others, who have so far only posted one entry, will be encouraged to submit their second one while there are still five days to go before it closes for voting.
Applause for your very fitting poem. Hugh (R.)

Dear Heath, you are quite right in what you say, I have been thinking the same thing, we must not overlook huguenauties contest, I have only written one so I will enter another one. It was a pleasure to help you with your entry and somehow I knew the picture would appeal to you.
Love AJ
