selene touched her fingers to mine
and gave me a pen;
when the moon is full
i can build worlds
with ink.
she washed my face in the cold sea
and told me my moods
would change like the tides.
she gave me pearls for eyes
so i could see
into the hearts of others
and look upon my children
only with love,
and silver for my tongue
so that i could speak strong words
in my tenacity--
--selene granted me the gift of monday
so that i might have time
to start over
and calm my own storm.
