As the last drop of reason evaporates,
I'm forced to dive into disaster.
Discovering that there is no sane explanation,
For why someone would taunt fate with fire.
Such an immortal devastation I'm facing,
Breaking the rules for something so weak.
Eyes of my kind question my motives,
When even I don't understand them.
Here I stand on the ledge of ruin,
Because she can't possibly understand,
The burning demands of this hunger.
And naively she'll cling to my arms for protection.
Desperately trying to evade dropping my porcelain doll.
Because her fragile face could never be glued back together.
My eyes are so unforgiving of the danger I will undoubtedly put her in.
I pray that the angels may save her soul when mercy won't be shown to mine.

Loved it! I like your explanation of the quote because truly there is so much impact and emotion put into so few words that unless we know his point of view we don't truly get it. Great imagery and word choice. Excellent poem!
