Butterfly to Lioness

You were for me, a golden ocean,
My heavenly butterfly with wings,
So powerful, so vivid, so gentle.
You reconstructed the fractured branches
Of my long dead life
Like a miracle-maker of divinity
Or a drop of fresh rain on draughty land,
Encouraging healing.
A figure of perfection indeed.

Yet one day, the butterfly,
So intensely beautiful and kind,
Wilted and departed to a wrecking life,
Wholly dissipated in the menacing sky
And a figure of transition appeared,
A ferocious lioness-like beast,
Spectacularly calumnious
You are, sorrowfully.
You made me reach my unreachable,
But soon you let me go,
Not just once but repeatedly.
You speared my palpitating heart,
Ferocious beast.
This slow bettering process,
The needles pinching deep scars
Was thoroughly painful
But I had to endure that too.

And now, on this weak wedge,
I ponder whether I will encounter
The butterfly I miss
Somewhere faraway
On wings like the ones I’ll wear
Soon, when the wedge descends.

Wonderful metaphors and imagery. It made this poem all the more enjoyable. It portrayed perfectly the abrupt changes that can occur in a relationship: from someone loving, caring, and kind to someone who rips your heart into pieces using no restraint. From a butterfly to a ferocious beast. I know the feeling.
Well done and thank you for letting me read this.
