Anabel and Dandy and their Flight

Missing image

One summer day, two little bears

Went flying through the sky;

Yet as they flew it grew so cold

They both began to cry.

 Cry

Old father sun looked down and said:

"Dandy and Anabel, my dears,

I'll send the angels with OrangeMarmalade

To dry your falling tears."

 Smile

OrangeMarmalade came in violet

And her guardian angel wore indigo;

In blue, green, yellow, orange and red

They formed a pretty row.

 Innocent

Angels wiped teddy-bear tears right away.

Dandy and Anabel coasted a rainbow from the sky.

Did you ever hear of two airplane bears so saved

And arrived happy and dry?

 Embarassed

And when they saw dear OrangeMarmalade

They grunted with all of their might.

And all Jen's cousins, nieces and nephews

Shouted as one: "Watch Anabel and Dandy alight!"

Kiss

    Congratulations on the HM. The blessings of grandchildren come at a time in life when you totally forget about wishing you were young again. The poem promotes a warm and fuzzy feeling much like the teddy bears will do I'm sure.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long

    This poem is about the right length for a bed-time story, and with the help of a graphic artist, it could make a fine children's book. I like the whimsy of and after each verse.

      Your smile

      is a very precious commodity. If I lived near you, I would hug you as well as your teddy bears. [I have two sons; no daughter. That's my trouble!]
