Autumn

Autumn the death of a world,
Slowly the trees strip bare,
The moon hangs high in the sky, alone, helpless, there.
Emotions come to terms with fate,
As everything becomes give or take.

Pumpkins, cinder, and homemade pies.
The soil hardens, humanity retreats inside.
Leaves crunch under insulated boots,
As another migrating mass of birds,
Redefines life by another windswept shore.

Witches hats, Spider man suits, and fistfuls of candy.
Face paintings, and haunted hay rides.
Crisp morning air bites at the lungs,
As water engulfs your eyes.

A nonch on the wheel of everlasting time,
A moment to step back,
And understand the meaning of life.

Just what autumn means to me, kind of abstract, mostly just fun.
