Trainee Juvenile Geriatric Delinquent

Missing image
Dedicated to those who refuse to age!

Photobucket

Trainee Juvenile Geriatric Delinquent, that's me,
Well in touch with my inner child, for all to see!

Still doing outrageous things,
Just to see what reaction it brings!

Riding a motorbikes or pushbikes like a rebel,
Friends who see me bursting a blood vessel!

Riding on all of the fairground rides,
These I take all in my strides!

Riding the surf on a choppy sea,
Happy on a surfboard as can be!

Anything to swing on a trapeze,
Despite my having arthritic knees!

Driving fast cars at top speed yippee,
Even though my eyesight isn't what it used to be!

Jumping off diving boards in swimming pools,
Who cares if juvenile geriatrics looks such fools!

Fifty one in September two thousand and eight,
But I still go on micro-scooters and roller skate!

Dress in young and daring styles,
Sure it raises some funny smiles!

Cheering at the Hells Angels on motorbikes,
When many my age are shouting yikes!

Playing pranks on others anything for kicks,
Geriatric juvenile refusing to age tricks!

Not ready for a wooden overcoat,
Too busy acting the goat!

Who wants to age when you can stay a child inside,
And youth within without can in me reside!

August 2008
Happily Embracing Your Inner Child
Embrace your inner child.
Jump in a puddle
Build a sand castle
Any childhood activity that you can imagine indulging in today, as an adult.
Spin me a tale in the style of your choosing.
Please, no dark or gloomy.
No naughty language or sex.
No pre-writes.
My own original poem is the inspiration for this contest.

PUDDLE JUMPING AND OTHER JOYS
The night rain left its calling card
in the form of puddles scattered here and there.
Conditions being as they were
it made for great puddle jumping
both over and in.
She watched the hurrying rush hour Rambo's
skirt them as though diseased,
and wondered where their childhood had gone.
In place of the hop scotch chalked in the courtyard
there beckoned the most wonderful rainy day diversion.
After all, what was the point of a rainy day if one didn't use it properly?
Like a circus acrobat, umbrella at the ready for balance
she skirted the outer edges, quite in danger of falling in, it seemed.
Steps carefully placed carried her the entire parimeter.
Tossing the bright yellow umbrella aside
with a flourish, she leapt from the heights of the carney diving board
into the gift the evening had sent her.
Seemed a shame to waste such perfectly good puddles.
