What Waits Beyond the "Cellar Door"

What lies beyond I did not know
A place years on end I would never go
Musty smells and broken stairs
Dusty cobwebs growing everywhere

Ominous sounds often to be heard
Fans the flame of fears and broken nerves
Those who enter never to be seen again
That’s how I lost my very best friend

One day he entered that dark place of doom
A place filled with hopelessness and gloom
Mans best friend my best buddy Pierre
Didn’t listen when he scampered down there

A French poodle that wouldn’t hurt a fly
Suddenly I heard the most horrendous cry
Courage found with bat in hand; I ran down the stairs
I searched and, I searched, looking everywhere

No trace could be found he just disappeared that day
No one believed me, everyone thinks he ran away
I never even got the chance to say goodbye
Never again ventured beyond the cellar door; need you ask me why

I once knew a man with ten thousand spiders in his basement. The cellar is truely an ominous place. And another great write keep writing I'll keep reading

Thank you so much for the kind words. If I ever encountered more than one spider at a time and a small one at that, my heart would stop. Deathly afraid of insects, all bugs. You should have seen me running around my house with a broom no less trying to catch a horsefly. Lol We won’t even talk about my reaction to mice, Good Lord!
