within this declaration
that once haunted
my existence, and caused me
to strip my soul
past its tender roots
deep into fear -
not of You,
but of myself
upon this bench I sat
facing you,
when uncertainty
made me weak,
uncovering my pride
in not knowing
how I would face, myself,
should you not realize
I asked forgiveness
for being: I
and for wanting you
to believe that it was you
who did not want me to be me,
and you simply stated: I have already
forgiven you! Then I knew
how to cause love, to let me grow.
My declaration is simple, but filled
with an immeasurable You, in me.
This is the truth.

A powerful truth you write of indeed...fear of one's own self...fear of forgiving one's self, fear of loving one's self...Marvelous insights, beautifully penned, courageously shared...thank you. Best of luck in the contest. Peace, Rhonda

A lovely tribute ...
to which I can identify with as I have also sat upon that very bench while my old self made amends with the new joy of life, living and love once again. You have shared such honesty with this poem and indeed "the simple truth" ... a good reminder for me on how we grow from seeds we sow! for weeds can produce some beautiful flowers ... bless you, j y

I just went through this process twice in one week. To ask for forgiveness in my case was difficult because I had to admit to myself I did wrong. Once asked, it is up to whoever you asked to complete the healing process. I wish you well in all of life's endeavors and in this contest.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

Wonderful and Uplifting
Good morning my friend, This was so uplifting to read this morning. This does help remind me He is always with us. Could use some prayer this day. Sometimes we need to be reminded He is always there to forgive us. All we need to do is ask. I don't thank Him as much as I should lately. Bless you my friend.

"...caused me

Right on target, dear brother... if we subject ourselves fully to God, we can trust Him to renew us to a more abundant life than we can imagine!
deeply thought out and very powerfully stated
What a blessing your soul is to me.
