Enough

this one moment
now with you is
enough...

never feel guilty,
.....a great man once said...

"You do not have,
because you do not ask"...

I asked for a moment of
your time,
and you have given it to me...

it is enough, more than
enough....

I am searching for simple and heart touching poem like this, Great write Teacher.

  • Wow if I were to define a single moment of pure love
or how I wish it. it would have been said this way.
I love the words you have used, each one deeper and more heart felt here.
Amazing how few words can say so much.
    Thanks for sharing.
Hope all is well my friend.

Very simple, but it speaks volumes. I feel that I can really relate to this to a situation in my own life, and that is nice in a poem.

This poem is so powerful, but in a subtle way. Similar to the subject matter, I suppose ;-) Love is hard to effectively write about, but you seem to have grasped it and have been able to make the reader feel it.

I like that you only capitalized the "I" and one "You". Whether intentional or not that emphasized both stanzas after nicely.

    Is it?

Very nice, brief and simply expression. well, as per Great Shakespeare,
    'If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.
That strain again! it had a dying fall:
O, it came o'er my ear like the sweet sound,
That breathes upon a bank of violets,
Stealing and giving odour! Enough; no more:
'Tis not so sweet now as it was before.
O spirit of love! how quick and fresh art thou,
    That, notwithstanding thy capacity
Receiveth as the sea, nought enters there,
Of what validity and pitch soe'er,
But falls into abatement and low price,
Even in a minute: so full of shapes is fancy
That it alone is high fantastical.'
please note how he use 'Enough'...
    ' Enough; no more:
'Tis not so sweet now as it was before.'
so, there is a chance of losing the flaver of love, well Jhon keants has a bit different idea about it,
'A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.'
but when someting is more than enough than it may be a moment and nothing else. very nice thought.

I am not Shakespeare therefore I use 'Enough' to be an acceptable amount, while I find his usage is an interesting display of his greed and consuming appetite. Though he writes of enjoying the 'odour' of love or violets, he consumes them and devours them, he does not savor them...just a difference of writing style I suppose. I do so enjoy your comment here Ahkam. It has been so long since you have taken the time.....Peace always, Rhonda

god.. this is beautiful. It reached down into my heart tonight.. because of something I'm going through..and it spoke. It simply spoke.

Of the years, and millions of moments.. just the one..sometimes.. makes a lifetime.. doesn't it.

So many times when I was younger, and it is still true now, I was told -
"Do you not know how to ask?"

Yes I believe wholeheartedly that asking is a necessity, if we are to receive what is the best for us, spiritually and physically.

A wonderful write and reminder from you.

      Sol,
You made me smile with this comment, I too remember this same situation, as a very young child. Correction can be a good thing even when we don't feel it is so comfortable. Peace and many thanks for stopping by. Rhonda
