you plucked me like a multi-faceted
wish from the ground
i lost my roots
but maybe i thought maybe it was okay
i could plant myself deep inside you
and you could become my lifeline tying me to the earth
because when you held my arm
hard enough to elicit
shadows under my skin
i felt you like an anchor--
my heart dropped
a cracked glass bottle containing
a single love letter
written with a few interlocked intentions
but you scooped it up
and encouraged it to grow
(i bottle all my emotions up
and release them to the waves
i thought they washed upon
the sandy shores of your hipbones
but it was just my desperation from the passenger seat again
and when i think about it
i realize that i never received a letter in return)

there's so much i want to say to you. you don't even know. i have enough faith in us to know you'll be back. it just hurts to wait.

Well done in the "contemporary" style with an amazing plethora of images that march by the reader in a most unrelenting fashion.... deftly done...
