We used to call them Keds
some called them tennis shoes
but me in my red canvas crews
that made me run so fast
believed in all the tv ads
those PF flyers made me fly
so I would run fast as the wind
today they call them walking shoes
Nike, Addidas or whatever's today's news
a brand new pair all padded and cushie
cuddle my foot like a warm loving hug
giving me strength to bounce along
even Superman would like these pumps
leaping tall buildings in a single bound
faster than a speeding bullet
as I walk my stride is happy
my blood flows rushing to my heart
encouraging my legs to stretch
just a little more and more
and faster and faster
and suddenly it happens,
I run as fast as I can
remembering way back when
my PF flyers took me
on my first flight
to the top of the trees
Smiling to myself
remembering it was true
just as it was then
different name
same shoe
they made me fly
if only just
within my mind
Author notes
I remember my PF flyers and how proud I was to watch them from my bed as I fell asleep knowing I would be able to fly again tomorrow.

Smiling all the way through!...That inner child I could see so vividly..I just love this poem, Scarlett...Bookmarked!

I absolutely smiled..
seeing how your childhood memory of your Keds equates to the running shoes you wear today..
What a great transistion. -
I do remember
days flee, but memories of them remain, regardless of the name or price paid. True, we felt we had the wings of a giant bird, eagle and could soar fast. Those were the days, thank you for reminding me.

Now I remember---I had converse sneakers!
-
Barefoot feeling the grass beneath my feet. Like to be a kid again for a few days. not a care in the world!
