CONGRATULATIONS Darlene for winning SILVER

Another good haiku. And do you remember when Dady was a recruiting sgt. in Farmington Missouri and I went there on the bus from our grandparents home in Oregon? The first evening I was there, Mamma made frogs legs and turtle for dinner. I had to force myself to try it but immedietly found it to be very tasty. I might not have liked it as road kill, though

Good luck in the contest
Love and
Dee

Ohhh slow Tortoise! He get run over. Nasty car!

-
Excellent use of contrast here!
And leaves the thought: is the car really driving fast or is just the tortoise too slow
Nicely done Darlene

-
or is the world spinning too fast for some of us...Thanks for reading it and commenting...

Awww...
Turtle soup! You kill it, you eat it! Hope that's the law in this instance. Imagery is stunning!
Poor tortise!
Excellent! I wish you well in the challenge!

Much Love ♥

Oh, the poor thing!
Inevitability is written all over it!
-
-
and drove all over it too Terry...

Awww Darlene, that's so sad, I read the comment where you say the rednecks deliberately head for them and yes, KARMA comes back and will hit them smack bang in the face.
Great haiku
Hine

Karma will get us all in the end...
Thanks for the comment Hine...

Poor turtle! In this speedy world, a slow pace is not tolerated and can be fatal! Great haiku!

We sure all need to slow down a bit...Thanks for the comment Maureen...

Dear Darlene,
We get all sorts of things squashed on our roads but I can't recall ever having seen a flattened tortoise. Do the tyremarks show?
Good luck in contest.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh.

Don't know Hugh...never got that close to a dead one...too many turkey buzzards around to stop and look...besides if I did I might be flatened like the tortoise...
-
-
OHHHH geeze, poor tortoise was too slow.
It's sad to see the dead animal on the road, last week it was a young kitten up the road, very sad.
great haiku Darlene

Hi Angelica, Here the 'rednecks' aim for the tortoises as they cross the road...but I beleive in karma so they will get their comeuppance...

A Shocking Tale Of Tortoise!
I'm guessing the Hare is behind the wheel...memory like an elephant...and twice as evil!

-
-
You are a nut! but a lovable one..
I bet you do not have an evil bone in your body...
and would not hurt a hair on the head of a hare...tortoises don't have hairs do they...

Another very good haiku, Darlene. It contains a wonderful juxtaposition of images - the slow tortoise and the fast car. This makes the haiku resonate and work on a number of levels, which is what we want as readers from haiku.
Impressive work,
Myron
