Wake up mommy wake up!
look what we made you
I open my eyes and what do I see
two proud smiling faces
In one's tiny hands
A bright hand drawn card
full of flowers and scribbles
and a great big heart
in the other's hands
my favorite coffee cup
from the drips I knew
there was something inside
I took the cup it was cold
inside was the blackest I ever saw
They stood there waiting what could I do
I put the cup to my lips and took a sip
I almost spit it right back out
mmmmmmmm thank you dears
I sat the cup down
did we do good mommy?
yes dears how about a hug
we hugged and hugged
I hoped they'd forget the cup
but no.....here mommy finish your coffee
I took the cup how could I not
my precious children tried to make my day special
so I settled back into bed
and I thought of the love stirred into it
not sure how I would get through it
I put the cup to my lips and took another sip
it was cold and it was bitter not at all the way I like
but I finished it to the last drop
Happy they were for in their young minds
they had made mommy's day
and they had because of the love
they poured in to my cup that day.
