Memoirs

Wilting flowers closed
in sudden nighttime darkness;
silken petals gone with dusk
like black confusion
in spasmodic tragedies.

Nostalgic beauty leaks through
the evening haze in the moon's
wake; soft luminescence backed
with diamond-spotted skies.

There is truth behind their
brilliance and gentleness
in their wisdom;
listen to the ballads played
of memories within your heart.

Forever are there flowers
pressed in memoirs...

    A lovely piece of hope to be found in the healing of heart. Some things are fated to drift from our hearts, and unfortunately we lose many of those petals... Nicely penned. Thank you for your entry!

    "listen to the ballads played
    of memories within your heart."

    Loved that quote; it's so true, and I think ballads is a really good word to use here - makes you think of soft, dreamy times - which they woudl be now that the person they concern has passed on.

    Well done; best of luck in the contest.

    thank you for sharing these sensitive and beautiful words here with us ... they seem to spring from an innocent heart and from the precious well of humility ... such words reach the hearts of those who grieve, because they are welcoming the pain without trying to "reason it away" ...
    I am truly grateful for your words,
    thank you,
    maa
