my Dad doesn't brag
unless he speaks of his kids
he doesn't boast or fuss at most
until our names are in the toast
he's not Davinci or Picasso
Rembrandt or Matisse
he says he doesn't need to be
we're his masterpiece
He doesn't eat right except dinner
or exercise as much as I say
he fights me on the salad
but he still eats it anyway
he munches candy way too much
he's not all healthy as he can be
but he says he'll live forever
we're his immortality
Author notes
when my grampa died my Aunt said as long as we remember those who die and keep them in our hearts then they're never really gone and we're their legacy and their immortality. my Aunt is way smart

This is a very sweet piece of endearing thought... So often we do lose those we love, and what is important is to remember them the way they were - and cherish what we we blessed to have of them. Thank you for your entry!

Absolutely loved those lines; it's such a touching ending to the poem. Thought this was really well written; you brought him alive for us all through so many colloquialisms. Great job on this, and best of luck in the contest!

Such heart felt memories and remember when they come to mind once passed tell them hi and the love is still strong for they do visit often and brings the hearts back to life

Ah, this is fantastic! Your aunt is an extremely wise person, and her words are so true. I love the way your poem flows, and the imagery you conjure for the reader. Absolutely wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing this, and all the best in the contest,

Luck.
