Shadow (rictameter)

Shadow
of bygone days,
memories do refresh.
Idealism was once in full bloom,
the world seemed full of opportunity.
Hope and faith slowly slipped away,
the daily grind takes toll.
All that’s left, a
shadow.

I love this. Because it shows the way in which the world can affect a person and cause them to become a lesser version of themselves...

    Deep & Dark!

U R good at these Dennis! I can feel like this sometimes when I allow myself to get depressed! Thankfully His light keeps the shadows at bay! Nice write as always & something to tease the mind! Here's a that we all come out of the shadows!

Yeah had to read a Rictameter Once more I like how these present on the page. You hit your head against the wall enough you kind of grow up and the toll takes away leaving the shell of the enthusiasm or as you say the shadow...just one reason why I never want to grow up retaining the wonder and ability to make a difference..Words to ponder do we fade into the shadow or step out into the light....you have light shining down on you.

This is a chilling poem - especially for those of us who still have idealism in full bloom! This is beautifully written and the presentation is wonderful - you are so good at these short forms - long live optimism!

    Keep writing

Lines 6 and 7 are the strongest for me, I'm not sure why but they are
This is a great rictameter, you took Shadow and turned it a different way from the usual ghosts kind of poem ... Great

There's something wrong here but I can't figure out what. The line count is correct. the syllable count is right ...but the shape is off. Maybe if you find words with more letters. Especially for line 7 ... (scratches head)
It should look like a perfect diamond.
