I was running away from my problems, escaping to the rocks down by the sea.
Not caring where I was going,I just wanted time to be free.
Up a steep embankment I climbed,to rest for awhile at the top
When a movement in the distance caught my eye,and I had to stop.
A worn and withered little old man, with a limp in his feeble walk, said,"Son,are you just passing through,or would you like to sit and talk?"He said,"There's coffee heating on the fire, its not much but I'd like to share."
His kindness caught me off guard, and was more than my heart could bear.
My tears started to fall like rain and I turned my head to hide.
i thought surely this man will think I'm weak,
He doesn't know how I hurt inside.
I said,"I'd like to be alone,Sir,if you don't mind."
He said "Child could I say just one thing,
Please,would you be so kind?"
So Isaid,"Sure Mister,go ahead,I'll hear what you have to say."
He just smiled, took a step or two,and he slowly turned away.
Then he said,"See that mountain over there?"
And he pointed to the right.
He said,"I call it Dove Mountain, for i see them often there,in flight.
He said,"Go climb that mountain,Child, so high above the seas,
And you'll see a huge wooden cross, made from two tall pine trees."
He said," I know that you don't understand, but you will,so be on your way.'
He smiled at me,and shook my hand, and then he turned and walked away.
Having tried everything else, and everything else having failed,
I started up Dove Mountain,up that long and winding trail.
Then having reached the top,I saw the cross like the old man had said.
I walked to the base of it,and there I knealt and bowed my head.
I prayed,"Lord I need your help, and you said ask and you shall receive.
Lord I know it's been a long time,but still Lord,I believe.
I'm not worthy that you should hear my prayer, yet,I'm trusting that you will.
You see,I've never once stopped loving you,How much more you must love me still!
Just make your will known to me,Lord and guide me along the way
I'll follow closely in your footsteps, lest ever again I should stray.
I ended my prayer with a sacred"Amen" and I fought the urge to cry.
I stood and looked up at the cross, and I could'nt believe my eyes !
Why,there were beautiful doves everywhere,
On the ground,on the cross,in the air.
It was such a miraculuous sight to behold,
that I could only stand and stare!
Then the doves rose out of sight,so high up in the sky,
and I headed back down Dove Mountain, with tears stinging in my eyes.
Then, I looked ahead, and I saw the old man walking along the beach.
He turned,smiled,and waved-
And then he walked out across the sea !
If this poem blessed you in any way, please let me hear from you !

Welcome to AllPoetry
I'm blessed, I'm blessed!
I've seen the mountain and know the One who walked up there.
This reminds me of how little we see with
our eyes opened and how many thoughts we
have later when they're closed. More like
'after visuals'
Well described throughout. Nice language.
*Suggestions*
What I would work on is the form.
I'd clip the lines and do a little
counting to even them up, especially
where there are a few rhymes.
I would also economise this so
that the strength of the beautiful narrative
stands out.

Also, there is a misspell/oopsie.
Once polished, this could speak
volumes.
Thank you for sharing this picture of
faith! Warmly, CookieZeal
