as the waves crash into pieces
upon these sandy desolate beaches
we are free
while the sun sinks away
painting a sky into flames
we are free
as a woodpile crackles
exploding sparks into ashes
we are free
while the breeze caress our skin
as we sip on cups of gin
we are free
with sand between our toes
and smells of seaweed in our nose
we are free
until these moments slip away
and were dealt another day
we are free

Impressive.
I like the way you made it simple and clean...
While using a 3-line rhyming skim.
There was only one rhyme that was missed...
But over all, the contest it can perfectly resist.
