A not so pretty girl, looking not so pretty,
to get the money to pay the bills, she doesn't mind a quickie,
a part of the family, now totally forgotten,
consumed by the greed, meek as chopped mutton,
to live each day, sober or blown away,
for the words of love, she cannot say,
naked is for the lies, as for the prize,
her broken heart, her eyes give away,
as he crams her favored flesh in his hands,
a dirty twenty he tucks in her waistband,
as she closes her mouth for the rest of the day,
she doesn't realize and doesn't have the words to say

Sad state of affairs, that. Actually see it happen a lot where I'm from. Seems like all of the forgotten youths come crawling up out of the cracks and congregate around the truck stop. Anyway, nicely done and good luck in the contest.

Why do you say whatever? After I read a good poem and see a negative note it takes away from my happy poem feelings, just saying.

I thought the poem touched on a serious issue, and made very bold images and statements. I really enjoyed reading this.
