[ you my dear are precious ]

you my dear are precious

and have everything to give

you are only young once

and you should be happy and live

remember once you walk over to the other side

there are many things that you must deal with

ask yourself do i just want to have fun and be a kid

or do i want to be an adult

remember my dear you have plenty of time

virtue is lovely and it will always be appreciated and

never will it be outdated

so many of us give ourselves away so freely

and when i came down to it we were not ready

for what comes after sometimes heartbreak or even a child

stay young for a little while

make sure you are ready for all that comes with

the choices you make

sometimes just hanging and chilling with your best girl

will be all it takes

i know its so tempting

i know it can feel overwhelming

but sometimes its more fun to wait

even for your wedding day

just think of how special a gift

you are

 by holding off and waiting

by stepping back and asking yourself

all the questions in your heart

is it worth it?

do i want to grow up too fast

or do i want to be a kid for as long

as i can

trust me my dear

we have all been down this road

filled with grown up question's

i speak to you from my heart

stay free and young

have lots of fun for as long as you can

you have plenty of time

know you are worth the wait

there is no hurry

there is no rush

know that once you start

its such

a fuss!!!

    A lovely caring poem

You have a heart of gold. All the pain still inside you will make you stronger and wiser as each year passes. You wisdom and kind approach to people makes you very special. Bless you for this great poem which I am sure will do some good for the young person.

    Hi there

Thank you for being so patient as I've made my way through the poems in this contest. You have some great advice here, that would apply to many young people. Part of your poem reminds me of a song and the lines, "We grow up so slowly, and grow old too fast" and boy, isn't that the truth? Worse yet, we don't have the wisdom when we're young to realize life tends to only get more complicated in many ways, as you cross over into adulthood. But on the same token...I know I would not choose to relive my teen years for all the money in the world.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a heartfelt poem for the contest, and for reminding her she's precious in so many eyes.

    Good Luck and Best wishes,
    ~J.

    AHHHH

If only such precious words were truly absorbed! The love flows thru this and whoever they are for is truly blessed to have you in their life. How quickly children want to grow up! I still long for my childhood! Sweet and caring! Thank for sharing!

Oh what a meaningful, loving poem. I had a daughter, too and tried to tell her this when she was 13, alas it was a bit too late! So live and learn! Great message to a child (be it boy or girl)!!! I really enjoyed your well written poem. The unconventional variation of line lengths a nd stccoo delivery is refreshing and unusual -- but fun. The title is very apt. The last line a nice twist! Fine poetry fine work, Thanks for sharing!
