Womanly charms… You’ve learned them quite well,
but it’s that time of the year when football casts its spell
and men of all ages settle down with their beer,
not planning to move until early next year.
Weeks shrink to six days. Sunday’s don’t count.
It’s just like you Dad warned, we’ll never amount
to anything much at least on the days
when we’re glued to our seats as our favorite team plays.
But then you walk in the room and your blouse isn’t there!
And suddenly we’re on the move, unaware
that this is a trap set by a cunning mind.
If we take the bait, we’ll end up in a bind!
You’ve already planned it well ahead.
The appeal isn’t to our brains, it’s to our other head.
And sure enough, we fall for it hook and line,
not thinking at all as we walk up behind.
We note with amusement at your unhappy frown
as we reach around and murmur “Touch down!”
It doesn’t take long to sense our devotion;
no penalties here for “backfield in motion.”
We’ll kiss and we’ll hug and we’ll cause quite a scene
as long as we can keep one eye on the screen.
Our rhythm gets frantic as we watch your excitement climb
and bring you to pleasure…. before the end of half-time!
