I climb in darkness
Missteps are the expectation now
as on this ascent it’s all trial and error
I stumble often, thank God for the rope.
Sometimes the lightning flashes and
in that instant I see the path
winding and uneven
And just when I feel hopeless
there's an invisible boost to another pass
Perhaps that’s a reason for the darkness
My hands are rough and calloused
and my feet have learned to cling
There have been tears a plenty
but there has also been joy and triumph
I like to think from time to time
about what it might be like when I reach the top.
Will the light suddenly shine on me
and reveal all the why's as
Gods tape plays back all the wrongs and the rights?
Will I rest somewhere, eternally discussing
each unique experience with friends and loved ones?
Or will I find myself
better and stronger
And on another mountain?
Author notes
#5. I got more and more to do. I got less and less to prove. I am just trying to evolve.

Wonderful
Such great used of metaphor and terrific images. Thank you for sharing.

This is a great metaphor and I love the way you've travelled us through it, from the immediate, through the considerations and then speculation towards the future in optimistic hope.
The 'rope' for me is all important, it's been used before as a symbol for the necessary 'trust, resolve, patience, veracity and certainty' in order to be brought close to Truth. To bind yourself to God.
For me, the mountain climbed is your own self and fashioned by your own acts and ways of being guided.
Brought to not seeing in the darkness in order to receive the 'flashes' of revelation... could go on for ages here...
I think it a wonderful piece of work!

Thank you Soloman you are exactly right in your interpretation of how i meant all the metaphors. It feels pretty great to be understood *smile*

I find the ending of this very interesting, the thought of eternally discussing life with the ones you loved, or that life is not over, but instead you have evolved and are facing new challenges. I believe that is one of the main purposes of life and something to look forward to. You have created an interesting piece here and I wish you the best.

But I thought you were perfect, and tops. Now I discover you're just another climber struggling to find a foot hold. Like the rest of us. Still I'm prepared to bet you can go higher, faster. And your feet are longer. ---- Yes that's it, you fill larger shoes. ----- Thank you.

Oh ya, Ronald McDonald has nothing on me! Can you imagine me climbing in those big red shoes? LMAO.

life to me is a mountain
we climb our way to hope
it's crest is in the heavens
and for most we never reach the top
but learn lessons of life
this is what we become
it's wisdoms
it's pain
it's light
the lessor we must forget
