The Prophecies of the Fox

i) koyaanisqatsi

the day the world went crazy

I saw a ghost-faced stranger

riding an iron snake

it was like

I had gotten some cactus juice

from the Navajo

and lay out on the stone river

staring at the sun

waiting

for a blue star

to fall on my head

ii) naqoyqatsi

and it was I who saw the coming of Maseeh ud-Dajjal

the dimming of the sun by a great smoke in the sky

   the Beast

and many men and children broken apart in death

by the wind that starts at the heart of martyrdom

iii) powaqqatsi

the desert suns descends

my heart fills

with love

a tiny lizard

scuttles over my foot

hesitates

I don’t kill it

I know the war

has been inside me

nowhere else

and has been won

You missed a treat. Fresh lizard is to die for...
And blue star ointment goes on the other end...
And I have a poem here on the end, too!

If I'm ever stuck out there and starving, I'll remember the hint about the lizard!

you knew that you would intrigue me with this poem, didn't you ?
I loved the iron snakes and stone rivers, the next time I'm taking the train, I shall ask the clerk : "at what time will the next iron snake leave, please ?"
and on the highway, I might as well ask about the fastest flowing stone river to marseille ...
they'll definitely arrest me for having taken too much cactus-juice ...

although I have a vague impression that you might have just intended to play around here and to spice your verse up with a bit or irony (here's the iron again, the hopis were right ), I can sense the essence of your three short messages that faithfully reflect the energy/ambiance that these three spiritual/religious currents might inspire ...
no need to say that I feel very comfy in the last one ...

I love the ending, it's not only wise but also reflects my own humble experience ...

    great job, mairi !

ps. please explain the "fox"-thing with the six letters, I haven't quite figured that one out ...

The whole thing is playful-within-serious and serious-within-playful, and my notes do not mean much. But in very simple numerological terms, the letters F O X are the sixth letters in sets of nine, thereby having the portentious value of 666; BUT, a number is just a number... just as 2012 is just a number.

Enlighten me please. This piece sent chills up my spine but I am unaware of this trilogy that you speak of..may the teacher become a student? And the student become the teacher? Enjoyed reading.

I think the trilogy that reviewers below may have mentioned is a trilogy of films (with wonderful music by Philip Glass) which use the three words as their title.

However, I am taking them (loosely) as meant in the beliefs of the Hopi people about the end of all things, although I have tinkered about a little with the order, and some of my words and images are not hopi at all (the second canto contains Islamic concepts, and the third contains echoes of Buddhism and Quakerism).

      Koyaanisqatsi - "crazy life"
      Naqoyqatsi - "life as warfare"
Powaqqatsi - "the way of life", or "life in transformation".

The second and third are usually in the reverse order, I think.

The poem is, I guess, and expression...

      I hope that helps.

I haven't a clue what this is about (but I like the language used). Will somebody enlighten me, please?

    Sorely mystified,
    Bill

This is brilliant as you relate the time line to the Qatsi trilogy and the take on the past, present and future. Perhaps life is out of balance as it is all a war however it is transforming as you so aptly paint in your image. Well done!
